The simple overtone flute, known in Slovakia as the koncovka and traditionally played by shepherds and shamans, has roots stretching back to the early medieval period and beyond. Prized for its unique playability, it allows musicians to play with one hand while drumming with the other, making it one of the earliest one-man-band instruments.
Handcrafted from finely tuned copper pipe, this flute features a comfortable leather handhold for added grip and control. Thanks to its length, a wide range of notes can be effortlessly produced by adjusting breath pressure and covering or uncovering the open end with a finger or hand. Tuned to the key of D, it delivers a powerful, resonant sound, making it an excellent choice for drum circles and energetic performances.
